The U.S. is the Philippines’ largest supplier of agricultural products, and the Philippines is its 11th largest global market. The Philippines is one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, and the more than 7,000 islands that comprise the Philippines are classified under three major island groups: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Filipinos also have a strong preference for U.S. products, and are gaining interest in healthy and organic foods, that are also considered gourmet and organic in nature. With strong economic growth, booms in consumer spending are creating growth in western-style supermarket stores. As more women are entering the work force as well, interest in healthy and easy diner options are increasing. Dining out is also an important aspect of family bonding and celebrations and restaurants are eager to introduce new and exciting menu options.
