Hong Kong remain an important and attractive market for exporters, mainly due to its heavy reliance on imported food and drinks, in addition to its residents’ high per capita income and strong purchasing power. The Hong Kong government has implemented multiple measures to support businesses and individuals during the pandemic, most notably the Consumption Voucher Scheme, which 5.5 million eligible Hong Kong residents were issued with electronic vouchers to spend in retail stores in a bid to kick-start the retail sector, which after the first round saw retail sales up 8.4% in January-June 2021.

HOFEX has been one of the leading food and hospitality tradeshows in Asia for the last 30 years. This tradeshow attracts quality buyers from Hong Kong, China and surrounding countries in Pan Asia region. The 2021 edition, first since COVID-19, recorded 21,000 in-person and online trade visitors amidst the lack of international visitors.
