Japan was the fifth largest destination for U.S. agricultural exports in 2019. With the U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement (USJTA) entering into force on January 1, 2020, the Japanese market continues to show promise.
Join this webinar to hear from Barrett Bumpas, of the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) and current Deputy Director of the Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) in Tokyo, Japan. He will provide a general market overview of Japan's food and agricultural products, some changes caused by COVID and current implementation of the USJTA.

Barrett Bumpas arrived in Tokyo August 2018 as the Agricultural Trade Office Deputy Director and is currently acting. He joined FAS in 2012, rotating through various program areas in Washington D.C. which included work on processed products technical regulatory issues, global coarse grains trade analysis, and program management for sanitary and phytosanitary technical assistance projects. Barrett previously served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala from 2009-2011. He holds a B.A. in History from Texas Tech University and is a native of Jacksboro, Texas.
