Moreover, Hong Kong is the United States’ 4^th largest market for consumer oriented agricultural products, and in 2014, the US was its largest supplier of consumer oriented agricultural products. Hong Kong is an attractive market for various reasons, aside from not imposing duties on imports (except for spirits), this country also enjoys a relatively high GDP per capita (39,758 USD in 2014), and generally very low to almost no technical barriers to imports of U.S products. In addition, Hong Kong is a major transshipping hub, acting as a gateway into the region.

U.S. fish and seafood products are highly regarded by their quality amongst Hong Kong consumers. Seafood Expo Asia invites approximately 9,000 seafood professionals from more than 62 countries.
