Updates on Trade Missions & Shows

U.S. Department of Agriculture | Foreign Agricultural Service

Trade Missions:

USDA hosted its first in-person Agribusiness Trade Mission (ATM) in more than two years to Dubai, United Arab Emirates on February 16-20, 2022. The energy in the lead up to and during the ATM was high and enthusiastic, and the participation from the more than 40 U.S. agribusiness, Cooperator, state departments of agriculture, and state and regional trade group representatives demonstrated that our stakeholders are ready to get back out to promote trade and build relationships. Also, for the first time, the leadership of U.S. Agricultural Export Development Council (USAEDC) participated in USDA’s trade mission, as well as visiting with U.S. exhibitors and Cooperators at Gulfood. FAS Administrator Daniel Whitley kicked off the event and Secretary Vilsack led the ATM, which generated 300 business-to-business meetings and $7.6 million in reported 12-month projected sales, to date. Building on the success of the ATM to Dubai, Secretary Vilsack announced last week 4 additional USDA Trade Missions for 2022:

    • London, United Kingdom: June 20-23
    • Manila, Philippines: July 18-21
    • Nairobi, Kenya (including buyers from across East Africa): Oct. 31-Nov. 3
    • Madrid, Spain (including buyers from Portugal): Nov. 29-Dec. 3

Trade Shows:

In total, 96 U.S. exhibitors, 4 State and Regional Trade Groups, 3 State Departments of Agriculture and, 13 cooperators participated in Gulfood 2022. Highlights of the show included the USA Pavilion expanding into the Pulses and Grains hall and, for the first time, a cooking demonstration area in the USA Pavilion sponsored by cooperators and featuring celebrity chefs.
